- 16 points: Historically, 16 points have been enough to qualify for the playoffs in a 10-team IPL season. However, with the current competition, it’s possible that 16 points might not be sufficient this time.

- 18 points: Even 18 points may not guarantee qualification, considering multiple teams could reach this mark. Five teams finishing on 18 or more points is a plausible scenario.
Some teams’ qualification chances are²:

- Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB): With 16 points, RCB’s qualification chances are at 91%. They need at least one more win to ensure a top-four finish.

- Mumbai Indians (MI): MI have a 95% chance of qualifying with 14 points. One more win could almost seal their playoff berth.

- Gujarat Titans (GT): GT have an 88-95% chance of qualifying with 14 points. Winning even one of their last four matches may be enough.
The cutoff scenario largely depends on the number of wins, losses, and the net run rate (NRR) of each team. Teams with a higher NRR have an advantage in case of a tie in points.
